Rent the Czech Center Museum Houston

The Czech Center Museum Houston is the ideal setting for a unique and memorable event experience. We are centrally located in Houston's Museum District and conveniently near numerous hotels, Midtown, EaDo, Hermann Park, the Texas Medical Center, Rice University, and the city's central business district. Past events have included conferences and seminars, galas, annual meetings, staff retreats, seated dinners, receptions, weddings, quincineras, celebration of life ceremonies, young professionals networking events, fashion shows, and more.

Venue Pricing

All venue rentals include an inventory of banquet tables and chairs, on-site staff during the event, simple house sound and lighting, and secured Wi-Fi. All Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and holiday rentals are subject to minimum rental fees. Ask us about accessing the Galleries during your rental.

Extended timing for event rentals: Brno Gallery and Prague Hall: before 5 pm, $200/hour, after 11 pm, $750/hour.

All events end at 11 pm with the building vacant by 11:30 pm. If additional hours are negotiated, there will be an additional charge of $750 per hour.

PARKING

Reserving the parking lot is available for evening event rentals (5 pm-11 pm). Cost is a $550 rental fee. There is also metered parking on the surrounding streets, and a number of accessible pay lots within a few blocks of the Museum. 

VALET SERVICE

To ease arrival and departure to your special event, Czech Center Museum Houston staff will work with you to arrange valet parking services. 

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

Nearby bus and METROrail routes include connection to Rice University,  the Medical Center, NRG Park, Downtown, the Theater District, the George R. Brown Convention Center, HCC Central Campus, St. Thomas University, Texas Southern University, and the University of Houston.

RENTAL OVERVIEW

The Czech Center Museum Houston (CCMH) invites you to host meetings and events at the Center. Czech Center Museum Houston reserves the right to refuse rentals based on availability, safety, or inappropriateness of the proposed event as it pertains to the Center’s mission. 

EVENT HOURS

Czech Center Museum Houston is available for rental seven days a week. Events in the Brno Gallery and Prague Hall cannot begin until 4 p.m. when CCMH closes to the public unless special accommodations have previously been arranged. A fee of $100 per hour will be added if CCMH needs to be closed to the public. All events must conclude by 11 p.m. Events held on weekends and holidays will incur a surcharge of $100 per hour to cover overtime expenses. 

EXHIBIT AREAS

Please note we do not allow food and/or beverages in the exhibit areas. Food and/or beverages are only allowed in the Brno Gallery and the Prague Hall.

RESERVING AN EVENT SPACE

Interested parties may submit a request online at czechcenter.org or contact Czech Center Museum Houston to discuss date(s) and spaces. Upon mutual agreement the Center will provide a Facility Rental Agreement to the Lessee. An event is not considered confirmed until the Center has received the following:

Facility Rental Agreement completed and signed by both parties

1/3 non-refundable deposit of rental fee

Certificate of insurance

INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS

Caterer must provide a Certificate of Insurance three weeks prior to the event showing the following:

1. Workers' Compensation Insurance with an Employers Liability Limit of at least $500,000

2. Commercial Automobile Liability Insurance with at least $500,000 Combined Single Limit of Liability;

3. General Liability Insurance including Products Liability coverage with at least a $1,000,000 limit.

In addition to copies of licenses and certificates (catering), Lessee must make certain that a Certificate of Insurance is provided to the Museum for each required coverage showing the Center as the certificate holder. CERTIFICATE MUST READ AS FOLLOWS: “Czech Center Museum Houston, its officers, Board members, employees, agents, and trustees are herein named as additional insured.” THIS PRECISE WORDING AND COVERAGE IS REQUIRED ON ALL CERTIFICATES

EVENT BALANCE/CANCELATION

Lessee must pay a 1/3 non-refundable deposit to confirm event rental. The remaining balance is due 30 days prior to the scheduled event. Any fees incurred during the event will be billed promptly after the event and will be due within 15 days upon receiving the invoice. Lessee may cancel the reservation no less than 30 days prior to the scheduled event without further payment of balance. 

If a cancellation is made less than 30 days prior to the scheduled event, Lessee must pay the full balance. All cancellations must be in writing. Czech Center Museum Houston retains the right to cancel an event at any point should the Lessee fail to comply with any of the terms contained in the Facility Rental Agreement, or due to acts of nature, or special security issues, or other occurrences beyond the control of the Center. In such instance, the Lessee will be given as much advance notice as possible and any fees paid will be refunded. 

BUILDING POLICIES

Czech Center Museum Houston is a smoke-free facility. Smoking is not permitted inside the building or on the premises, including outside areas such as the parking lot. The City of Houston Noise Ordinance shall be abided by for any outside activities, playing of music, or any other noisy activities. Firearms, including without limitation handguns, shotguns and rifles (whether concealed or openly carried) are prohibited on the Center premises and parking areas pursuant to Sections 30.06 and 30.07 of the Texas Penal Code. All large bags, backpacks, briefcases, and packages must be checked at the Front Desk. All hand-carried items are subject to inspection.

ALCOHOL

Czech Center Museum Houston carries a beer and malt beverage license. Under no circumstances is liquor to be sold by the Lessee during the event. It is illegal to serve alcoholic beverages to anyone under the age of 21 years. It is the responsibility of the Lessee to enforce this regulation. 

OPEN FLAME POLICY

Open flames are prohibited. Sterno flames associated with catering are permissible but require constant attention. Battery-operated candles are allowed.

EVENT FLOOR PLANS

Czech Center Museum Houston must approve event floor plans at least 14 days prior to the scheduled event.

SET UP

Space rental fee includes 1 hour for set-up. Special arrangements to arrive more than 1 hour prior to event start time must be made with CCMH 7 days prior to the event. Each additional hour will incur a $100 fee. Upon arrival for set-up, Lessee must check in with CCMH staff. Please note set-up in the exhibit areas cannot begin until 4 p.m. when the Center closes to the public. 

ELECTRICAL NEEDS

All electrical wires, power cords, or other wires must be taped to floors with gaffers tape provided by the Lessee. No usage shall be permitted that may, in the judgment of Czech Center Museum Houston, overload or otherwise compromise the electrical systems of Czech Center Museum Houston.

CLEAN UP

All events must conclude by 10:00 p.m. If additional hours are arranged after 10:00 p.m., an additional fee of $600 per hour will be charged. After the event, before leaving the Center, the Lessee must perform a walk-through of the rental space with HMH staff. Lessee is responsible for all damage to the Center and to Czech Center Museum Houston’s personal property therein, or to the property of any third person which is on loan to Czech Center Museum Houston, caused by the acts of Lessee or Lessee’s agents, servants, employees, invitees, or guests, whether accidental or otherwise. Lessee further agrees to leave the premises in the same condition as existed on the date that possession thereof commenced which includes but is not limited to the removal of all trash generated by the event, removal of all furniture, equipment, décor, signage, etc. No overnight storage of décor, signage, and/or equipment is allowed. Czech Center Museum Houston does not provide staff to move tables, chairs, props, electrical/staging equipment, decorations, etc. provided by decorators, caterers, and other vendors.

DECOR AND SIGNAGE

All décor and equipment rentals must be made by the Lessee and approved by Czech Center Museum Houston a minimum of 14 days in advance of the event. Decorators, rental equipment companies, and other vendors must arrange arrival times prior to the event. All deliveries must go to the back entrance or an entrance designated by CCMH staff. All decorations and signs provided by the Lessee must be freestanding and not interfere or disturb in any manner CCMH exhibits or other property. No nails, tacks, unapproved tape, or glue may be used on the walls, floors, or other surfaces. The Lessee must receive approval for any equipment/décor hung from any surfaces. If tape is needed, the Center will provide the appropriate tape for the Center walls, with sufficient notification of the request. CCMH artifacts, exhibits, or furnishings may not be moved. The Center prohibits the following: firearms, live animals, fog, soap bubbles, glitter, fireworks, special effects smoke, helium balloons, and open flames. Confetti, bird seeds, rice, or other small items may not be thrown inside the Center.

FLORAL

Flower arrangements and plants must be pest-free and in water only. No dirt will be permitted on the premises. All floral arrangements must arrive and leave the Center on the same day. No flowers/plants may be left in the Center overnight. 

PARKING

Reserving the parking lot is available for evening event rentals (5 pm-11 pm). Cost is a $550 rental fee. Valet parking is required for more than 50 cars. To ease arrival and departure to your special event, Czech Center Museum Houston staff will work with you to arrange valet parking services. Lessee is entirely responsible for any and all costs and liability associated with valet services. 

SECURITY

Czech Center Museum Houston requires security to be present at all events. Additional security may be requested and/or required at an additional charge during regular Museum hours depending on the size and nature of the event. Security for all after-hours events is mandatory. Security officers are under direct supervision of the Center and only CCMH staff are to give instructions to security personnel. Lessee and its guests must comply with all security requests. If Lessee, its vendors, featured presenters, invitees or guests should have their own additional private security, CCMH must be advised 14 days in advance of the event and such private security must coordinate with CCMH security.

AUDIO & VISUAL

Any A/V needs must be discussed with Czech Center Museum Houston prior to the event to determine feasibility. Typically, the following are available: wireless handheld microphone, projector, and projector screens. Lessee must save presentations and/or any other electronic documents on a Universal Serial Bus (USB) Drive.

INVITATIONS AND PRINTED MATERIALS

All printed and web materials relating to events that reference Czech Center Museum Houston must be submitted to the CCMH Director for review and approval no less than 72 hours prior to being printed and/or posted online.

PREFERRED VENDOR LIST

Czech Center Museum Houston’s Preferred Vendors List includes Catering, Floral, Photography, and more. Should the Lessee opt to use a non-Center recommended vendor, the names and contact information of such vendors must be provided to the Czech Center Museum Houston prior to the event. All vendors will be required to produce a certificate of insurance and name the Czech Center Museum Houston as third-party insured and have valid licensees appropriate for their profession. 

RELINQUISHMENT OF OCCUPANCY

Lessee agrees that the event will end at the departure time, and that it will vacate the Museum premises within 45 minutes thereafter, and that it will leave it in the same condition as Lessee found it upon arrival. Lessee also agrees to comply with the terms of this Agreement and all standard Czech Center Museum Houston policies and procedures. Extra charges will be assessed if rooms, exhibits, or equipment are damaged or destroyed. Should Lessee fail to relinquish the Center premises in accordance with the departure time, Lessee shall be deemed to have held over and license fees shall continue to accrue at the specified rate, provided, however, no extension or renewal of this Agreement shall be deemed to have occurred by holding over. During such holding over, Lessee shall remain subject to all the terms and covenants.
